Planted carrots today. Carrots need to be kept moist. Covering them with hay or board will keep moisture in, Plant spacing just as I do with beets.: plant seeds 3 inches apart, in rows 3 inches apart diagonally. That comes to 3 rows in a one-row garden space. Lots less space for weeds! Be sure to thin to no closer than 3 inches. Carrots stop growing if they touch another carrot. Plant short carrots in hard soil. Plant long carrots in soft, fluffy soil.
