We’ve been eating it for the past week! Rhubarb is technically a vegetable, but historically has been eaten as a fruit. The leaf is poisonous for people but my chickens love to eat it. They tear it up and chase each other all over the lawn.
Remember that little 3 inch baby that came up randomly? Well, it has gotten big. At least 12 inches across. That may sound good, but it is turning orange already. That is bad. It is 2 months early so will probably rot before pumpkin decorating season. Chickens will feast!
Snow, as little as we had, is gone and the perennial herbs are poking up! There are 12 clumps of chives, 3 little sprigs of tarragon, 7 tips of mint, and 4 clumps of sage. Mint is great as calming mild tea. Tarragon chopped fine in scrambled eggs is divine. Sage is wonderful with meat…
