Picked the first of this year’s fruits.  Delicious!  Now every day I will pick, dehydrate for storage, sell to neighbors, or eat fresh.

Pulled the last onions tonight to dry them for winter storage.  Good size crop of both white and red.  Some rot from too much rain, but I can’t control the rain.

Had a whopper of a thunderstorm storm last evening.  Worst I have seen in a long while.  Put the electricity out for hours and into the night.  We have surge protectors for the fridge, freezer and computers, but the clocks show an outage of more than 2 hours.  We have emergency lighting, candles, flashlights and…

Yes, that is how high the animal corn has gotten.  I am under the hat at 5 foot 4 and the corn is at least 6 feet tall.  Wow.  It is only June.

Plants are covered with little berries which are starting to show some red.  Can’t wait for them to ripen!  They are so sweet.  Birds don’t seem to be bothering them much.  I put flash tape up to scare the birds off, which doesn’t bother the bees’ pollinating exuberance.

Saw fireflies for the first time tonight.  Their small twinkly lights are a joy to see.  Some stay low to the ground and some fly as high as our tallest tree across the road by the pasture.  Only the males have their lights to flash to entice the ladies to come up and dance.  They…
