The backyard
Our backyard appears a sanctuary for birds. We have all types – robin, cardinal, sparrow, purple finch, yellow finch, and bluebirds. The babies are all off the nests; and moms and dads are frantically trying to teach them to find their own food and to stay safe. So fun to see an adult bird fly by with 3 – 5 young flapping clumsily along behind. They come to our chicken feeder for a quick bite and visit the water dishes, too. I put out a pie tin with water and a stone in it. They drink and bathe here. So fun to watch. Why a stone? So it won’t tip over with their weight, so they can see how deep the water is, and so the wind can’t blow it away.
