The third planting is just starting to poke their heads up.
The second planting of beans have grown tall enough to see that the package was mislabeled and unwanted pole beans are growing. I do not have the capability for pole beans. I will have to either cut them off at about two feet and see if they produce or maybe just pull them out and replant.
For some unknown reason, a sparrow built her nest inside the chicken coop. I have tried blocking them out and destroying early nests, but they somehow succeed in nesting there, Trouble is, when the babies drop out of the nest, the chickens kill them. One fell out today and I was able to rescue it,…
Am also setting out red potato this year. Someone gave me a bunch of seed potato and I have room so want to see if there is any difference in production, storability, and taste.
Remember that little 3 inch baby that came up randomly? Well, it has gotten big. At least 12 inches across. That may sound good, but it is turning orange already. That is bad. It is 2 months early so will probably rot before pumpkin decorating season. Chickens will feast!
