Some 6 plants came up from last year and we have been eating the new leaves. Now I see that they are starting to bolt. That means they are putting up flower stems from which I will get seeds for next year. They are biennial producers i.e. first year leaves, second year seeds. They are rainbow type so will have red, orange, and yellow stems. So good boiled, drained, and lightly splashed with vinegar.
Am also setting out red potato this year. Someone gave me a bunch of seed potato and I have room so want to see if there is any difference in production, storability, and taste.
Remember that little 3 inch baby that came up randomly? Well, it has gotten big. At least 12 inches across. That may sound good, but it is turning orange already. That is bad. It is 2 months early so will probably rot before pumpkin decorating season. Chickens will feast!
