snow peas

Checked the dried and storage garlic today and found two that have sprouted little green tops.  They will not keep now (the bulbs get mushy) so I planted them out with the winter garlic. This will test whether garlic should be planted in the fall or if it is ok to plant them in spring.

I don’t usually post on Sunday, but feel I must say that we are safe from the terrible wind and rain storm we had today.  The wind felt more like a tornado than a thunderstorm.  We could see the cloud line coming — dark and roiling.  Worst I have ever seen.  The wind was horizontal…

Yes, i know it’s early, but it’s so sunny and warm I cannot resist the urge to plant.  so, peas went in today.  Planted them along the fence by the driveway to neighbor’s house.  It’s a nice sunny, sheltered spot so they should be fine even if we get a late frost.

Remember that little 3 inch baby that came up randomly?  Well, it has gotten big.  At least 12 inches across.  That may sound good, but it is turning orange already. That is bad.  It is 2 months early so will probably rot before pumpkin decorating season. Chickens will feast!

Pulled the last onions tonight to dry them for winter storage.  Good size crop of both white and red.  Some rot from too much rain, but I can’t control the rain.

Gone.  Hopped away, or cat got it.  So sad.
