The garlic popped their little heads up today. They were planted last fall about 6 inches apart and covered with lots of mulch. During the winter they put out roots so they are strong in the spring. Garlic is tasty in so many types of dishes and also roasted. They will grow about 3 feet tall. I only planted a few – maybe 30.
Friend with a greenhouse uses 21-gallon totes, drills 4 drainage holes in the sides 3 inches from the bottom: excess water drains out, but a reservoir forms in the bottom so she doesn’t have to water as often. Cool idea. Plants 2 tomatoes in each and ties them up on strings.
